RH9 ISO help
I downloaded the RH9 iso files off of linuxiso.org i have downloaded many iso files and buned them....they all have a file missing or some conflict.
I have decided that all of these iso's (around 10 or so) can not be corrupted. I also remember that the last few times i hav burned CD's the songs skip sometimes or wont play...so I have come to the conclusion that my disks are bad.
My question though is can I install red hat either on this hard drive with dual partitioning or on another hard drive if i hook them both up without buring the iso and just install the iso directly off this hard drive....hope that came out clear.
thanks

if you use a bootdisk, or if you can boot of the first disc, you can select which media you want to install from. If you have the iso files on another partition, you can tell setup to install from the iso's no problem. It should even go a little quicker than a cd install. You will have to tell redhat where it is at ie /dev/hdb or /dev/hdb1 where hdb is the second hard drive and 1 is the 1st partition. hope this helps

The problem is though that it wont boot into the install....it fails to load anaconda (the RH system installer) and tells me to reboot.

You have bigger fish to fry then. If i had to guess, I would say it was a video issue, being that anaconda is the (usually) first gui program to initialize. Have you tried running in text mode? Also check the RHCL to make sure you hard ware doesnt have any known issues with RH.
-
Ill try the text install. I know there arent any hardware problems because i have installed this version of red hat before on this system multiple times and it has worked fine every time.

Try burning the ISO's from a different computer.
I had a problem with my burning software/burner that was corrupting the CDs I was burning.
I ended up ditching that burner and getting a faster one anyway...
One with "burn proof" technology. It hasn't failed yet...

:'( this is the only comp in the house...plus we are on vacation and there arent any friends houses to burn from....damn it i have vegas lol

Ok i just tried the text install.....same thing happened. Could it maybe be a conflict with my "pirated" version or nero? I downloaded the demo and a keygen and thats my nero :-p.
-
Yep, that's it...everybody knows pirated versions of nero are corrupted...sometimes smacking the side of your hard drive will knock the bits back in line and it will work prpoerly.
Check the pirate software forum for tech help at www.losers.com
