Yeah. I think the most important quality is knowledge... but not book knowledge, or factoids. The difference between a 'hacker' and a 'computer-literate-jackass' depends on whether they have a sense of responsibility. The biggest question in regards to technology is often not "Can we do this?" but "Should we do this?"Quote:

Knowledge is also important, but knowledge without responsibility just gives you an 'inconsiderate cracking jackass', or something to that effect.
Knowledge, the equipment comes after that. WHat good is a fast computer if you don't know **** on how to use it.
Patience. all thing come to those who wait, as long as you know what your waiting for and that takes knowledge. so ill say ...a fast computer.
My point?
Its useless to give an assassin a state of the art, fully high-tech gun if he doesnt know how to kill.
A professional assassin can kill flawlessly just by using the things around him and improvise.
It also applies to hacking...
use ur brain in order for u to use your puter and your modem effectively :D
Thankz for your vote and answers i agree most of you guys. it's better to have knowledge, than have a fast computer and modem for a hacker, but for a simple surfer it is better of course a good modem and computer.
