I learned things out of sheer curiousity. When I was in class, and a program wasn't working correctly, I'd find out why. Then, I'd find out how to fix it. My knowledge is due to necessity, not a desire for money, respect, or anything of the sort.

You don't have to be a capitalist pig to want to code for money. Just need to have a family to support. :)
