We've seen a wave of legislation being passed and proposed the past several years that have sought to bring further regulation to both receiving information from, and publishing information to, the internet. Whether it be attempts at mandating age verification for materials "not suitable to minors", or even legislation that would require ISP-level filtering of content, the end result would be the same: a chilling effect on the free exchange of information and ideas.
You were just bitching about the legislation. And now you praise it because you follow it? Is the technology that you are describing not a chilling effect? You still have not answered the question of why it is you can get away with a simple "I'm 18" click, and brick and mortar stores need official ID. Is it because it will hurt your bottom line? You are bitching because AO allows for adults to express themselves openly because you got called out on your porn shop. Yet in another post you say that all adults should be able to openly and freely express themselves without worrying about what kids read or think.
