there's a firewall on my gateway machine, but it's working fine....it's what i'm using to get on the internet now.
and the firewall only blocks outside traffice, it doesn't look at my internal...

suse and debian are good distros, they're basically sugarcoated versions of unix. i don't find linux as reliable as unix though, the only time i use it is if i need weird drivers or something.

well i just booted one of the boxes up in knoppix and another in demolinux, and i'm able to ping each other no problem, so i guess that rules out hardware as the problem. i guess back to the config...
