All updates are free on their website, provided you have to install them manually. I think that's about what you are paying for is to use the auto update feature (which use to be free )
http://symantec.com
Anti-virus updates, patches, etc. About the only thing you won't get for free is new version upgrades. e.g. You can't upgrade from Norton Antivirus 3.0 to NA 2001 with a patch. You have to either buy the copy or find one on a warez site.

The 'free' way to get your updates
If you want to get another 400 days of free updates the easiest way is to uninstall your version, then download the latest trial for the symnatec website. Cracking it is as simple as replaced nuser32.dll, which is easily obtained at astalvista.box.sk.
I haven't tried it - but im pretty sure that if you just got the nuser32.dll from asta and replaced yours - you may get another 400 days of updates?

If your felling up to it....
If you are able to install it from a disk just uninstall it and set your clock back about 18 years or so and re-install it. This accidentally happened to me when I re-loaded my machine and all my programs before I checked my date and time. Norton didn't pick up on the change either when I sent them to the right date and time. Worth a shot anyway.
Risk everything, or gain nothing.

No....
Not the trial version I was using. I'm talking about the full version. You get free updates for a year, set the date backawhile and get 'em till you download or buy the new version.
Risk everything, or gain nothing.
