    dial-up sniffer

    is anyone know any sniffer i can use on w2k while using a dial-up to connect the internet.?

    Sure, use snort www.snort.org

    It will most likely only capture your traffic though.

    Im assuming that if you sniff packets sent from your own network it would be legal, but outside of that i dont even have a clue as to what legal things there are on it.

    In the US, yes. They are legitimate network diagnostic tools.

    Yes, ethereal is great..
    Just be careful where you use these sniffers though...
    For example if you were on broadband i don't think your provider would like you watching there packets speed by on their network...
