In GW BASIC, what does GW stand for?
    GW stands for "Gee Whiz."

    Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.

This was called either BASICA or GW-BASIC depending on whether it was provided with the IBM or Microsoft version of DOS.
