merging executables
I'm trying to explain to my 14 year old daughter why she shouldn't run e-mail attachments, but like most teenagers, she thinks it couldn't possibly happen to her. I would like to give her a harmless demonstration.
I know I have seen a program that merges two executables, I assume for the purpose of creating trojans. I'm not having any luck finding it. Could someone either give me the name or a link.
Much apprectiated.

You could always download a fake virus.I think there are some in the security downloads, well download it on to a floopy or cd and then reload, send it in the mail as an attachment dressed to her.
It would make her learn her lesson about viri and attachments.
I would seriously think abut getting some type of anti-virus software that monitors in the background.
Hope it helps
Good luck

I don't see your justification for having a program to merge executables.
If you created a false executable or used a fake virus (as suggested by Freeon) then that would suffice in teaching your daughter a lesson. Because the truth is...If the attachment was malicious then it wouldn't matter if it was merged with a valid program or not...The damage would already be done by executing the attachment!
I think you should follow the advice of FreeOn!

Go to www.world-porn.org/worldhackerz/ and check out the fake virus section. It has one that pretends to delete your hard drive before you eyes, should get the desired effect.

What's wrong with opening e-mail attachments if they're coming from a trusted source? That's what virus scanners are for. Anyway, if you want something like that, I have a few fake viruses that you can have. I think I got them from here, as a matter of fact. If they're not still in the AntiOnline downloads, talk to me and I'll give them to you. If you want, I can even e-mail them to you and save you some of the work in your lesson. And yes, they're harmless.

Thank you all for your help. I downloaded a few fake viruses from this site and will use those.
The original plan was to simply merge a simple game with something like notepad to show her how easy it is for someone to run something on a system that she did not intend to run.
I think a fake virus will make the point even better.
I do run a virus scanner, Noton's Antivirus, and keep it updated.
Thank you again.

Just teach u'r daughter the different between file extention. Weather .doc .exe .com .jpeg .mp3 etc. But be extra carefull if u recieve a file with extention like this FILENAME.JPEG.EXE I recommended using virus scan b4 open the file or u can just delete it if u feel suspicious.
