    Angry DoS with bios

****I do not suggest anyone does this, it doesn't require knowledge and its just stupid****

on my school's computers, and all computers, it is possible for anyone to go into the BIOS, set up passwords, and deny anyone without the passwords from using the computer.

Schools and others should be advised of this, since there is no way to hack the bios and get rid of the passwords (at least not that i know of),

schools should set the bios security themselves to protect from this.

To reset the BIOS / CMOS, there is usually a special jumper pin on the motherboard (on newer ones anyway.) On older motherboards, you need to remove the CMOS battery for a couple of seconds to clear it out. Also, I read somewhere on line (I've never tried it) that the DOS "debug" command could be used to clear the CMOS settings, but I don't remember exactly what the command was.

That is basic computer knowlege for the typical power user. My high school is the same way. Yes, there are ways to get past this. You have to open up the computer and either pop the CMOS reset jumper, or remove the CMOS battery for a couple minutes.

unfortunately, not everyone knows about this, including every authority in my school, i tried explaining reseting the bios/cmos to the teacher who runs the computer lab (after alot of their computers were attacked), and she just didn't understand, and has watched my every move since...

    Exclamation bios

This happened once at my old school, I had to spend about an hour telling the teacher that she could use a boot disk and a dos program to kill the bios password. She freaked after finding out that a student knew more that she did. How come the people who run computer labs in schools are always dumb, ignorant, or just plain brain dead?

If the admins at your school are that stupid/incompetent, I wouldn't volunteer any info about ANYTHING. Your just gonna set yourself up for suspicion and an eventual fall. I've seen very similar things happen over and over......

aww there is always a way

see all you need is a good password cracker L0phcrack should do it. net bios is hackable very much so even a palm pilot can hack it with the correct tool.

I know how you feel. I'm in the same boat. My school took an English teacher, put her through a Novell course, and made her the network admin. She can't figure out why computers are dying either. It's just too bad my school can't afford get a real administator.
