Arrow The National Computers Crime Squad...whats it take?

ya i am just curious as to what it takes to be part of the FBI's computer crimes devision. I know that you might not be able to give specifics, but lately this is all i can think about. I think the main part is because of terrorism that has hit this country and a big part of the battle is tracking their actions, at least to a point, with computers. I would love to do security work of any kind someday but especially for the FBI and i didnt know if anyone knew areas i should focus on or college courses. I am a CS major right now but there isnt a whole lot on network security where i go to school, so i am doing a lot of reading and experimenting myself. thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. :-)

I'm a computer science major at East Stroudsburg University in PA. Over the summer they just got a computer security major apporoved, and are suppossed to be the first university in the country to offer it. Hopefuly all goes well and the program takes off, because I plan on switching.

I know the FBI, CIA and NSA all have internship and co-op programs, I would look into those.

I know once you get to college N.S.A. and The FBI set up booths at colleges looking for techs. I used to see them all the time at my old school in San Diego. I guess part of it is they look for the right location, mostly where there are government facilities. But somtimes they go out to like U.C. Berkley and stuff. Alot of the time if you sign up they will train you in Security, but as you can guess not everyone can sign up.It is our Nations Security were talking about.

But they go to Colleges looking for new graduates, somtimes they even call you, or ask you to come in and set up a meeting with them. My friend in San Francisco was contacted like that.He had a Bachlors in Computer Science.

It all depends how ELLITE you are !

Does it depend on whether you can spell elite correctly? j/k

Does anyone know if there is an Australian equivelant to the FBI's computer crime devision? I rarely pay any attention to the outside world.. but I don't think australia has one.

Do you hav what it takes?

This post is about the only real helpful thread you got tonight> I dont have all the answers to there qualifications but I did apply with them and this is all I know.

    1) you need to apply with them.

    2) CAN NOT HAVE DONE DRUGS MORE THAN 7 TIMES.
thats a biggy. ( pot cocane speed ect.)

    3) Collage education more than 4 years.

    4) your bills better be payed, they do checks on your credit.

    5) you will get plenty of interviews on all different things.
Dont worry if you have been a good boy all of your life. Then they will hire you for the Job.

Damn 7 times. The government sure isnt very strict on drug users. And they wonder why the world is such a bad place. What if you were never actually caught doing drugs? Would this mean that you could work for them, or do they make you fill out a survey before you start, and if you say Yes to "Have you used drugs more than seven times?" they wont hire you?
