Make sure you have the NetBios protocol removed from the networking properties and install a firewall like;
zonealarm
tiny personal firewall
sygate

Open Ports
some ports must be open in order for some programs and your internet connection to function properly. like port 80 and 139 are open alot and its not uncommon. 80 is for Http and 139 is netBIOS name service. There are other ports for different daemons and services. Hope this helps.

While you're at it, download something like The cleaner or Tauscan to check for trojans.
