using linux to connect to a proxy

How can I use linux to connect to a proxy server? Will I still be able to connect to one, even though I already connect to the internet through a linksys router?

You should be able to set Netscape up to go through a proxy... If you mean setting it up so that *everything* connects through a router and then through a proxy I don't know... My Linux box doesnt have net access except through a proxy server on my Windows (XP) box so I can't really mess around with this kind of stuff without having to buy a real modem and stuff... and real modems are bloody hard to find nowadays... all these winmodems are starting to irritate me!

Thanks...but I'm one of those command line guys
WinModems suck. Most NICs(maybe all) are linux compatible though.
