I have a "conspiracy theory" regarding the antipoint system...
It is my belief that perhaps some of the more "senior" senior members of AO are able to tell exactly who has issued them with antipoints. If this were the case that would be extremely unfair to the rest of us....
I have no proof at all that this actually happens. Like I said, it's just a theory. Perhaps I'm just being overly paranoid....

If you mean "senior" as in posts, then no, we don't get that. If you mean by popularity, I don't think I'm qualified to tell you either way, since I'm not exactly the most popular person here.

I agree with you all. I just got a anti points with a message saying go away you f@#$ing ****. I like the constructive critisism, It must have take this person a great deal of brain power to come up with that. there was no need for that reply for my million dollar question forum.

how about antipoint logs that some moderators can have a looksie if thereīs reported abuse?
IMHO the point system isnīt al that bad, but the idea of forcing people to sign who the points come from is not a good one. Since obviously some people just canīt take critisism
Dear Santa, I liked the mp3 player I got but next christmas I want a SA-7 surface to air missile

We have dozens of checks and balances installed, that will help limit abuse and fraud of this system. If you are caught attempting to abuse the AntiPoints System, your account will be removed. Period!
and
The amount of points awarded, or taken away, from your AntiPoints total when a user rates your posts varies depending on a number of criteria, including how long the user has been a member, how many posts they've made, how many AntiPoints they have (ie, that other users have given them), etc. etc. A user that causes trouble, for example, won't have any effect on your SitePoint total when they rate their post, where I have a major effect on your total when I rate them (along with other admins / moderators). Users who have made a lot of helpful posts will have more of an effect than a newbie that's only asked 2 or 3 questions on the forums, etc. etc.

I don't know about moderators, but I'm pretty sure JP and his crew keep antipoint logs
But those logs should not be what keeps you from abusing the antipoints system. It is integrity and honor, pride even, that should keep you from abusing the system.

I want to reward those that make AntiOnline a better place by helping others and by exchanging ideas. At the same time, I want to limit the ability of trouble makers from taking away from that experience.....
And that's a noble idea. But there will always be people who abuse noble ideas. Those are the ones who can't come up with ideas themselves, those are the ones who can't take criticism, those are the ones who claim to be someone else, those are the ones who don't understand the Antipoints system.
Those are the ones who make the respected users Ph33r the l33t Antipoints system...
Don't let the fear win...

Pride? Integrity? Honor? Apparently, that's new vocabulary for a few of the people here. Almost everyone abides by these rules, but it seems that someone has gotten enough power to hand out antipoints and then trashed their pride, integrity, and honor in order to abuse the system.
JP, where art thou? You need to reply and maybe investigate this.
