    Red face Problem with the cd drive

    i have a 52x LG cdrom. from the past 2 days i am not able to use video cd's in it. but i can use other type of cd's. what could be the problem.

    What OS do you use?
    Have you made any changes to your system lately?
    What were the last couple of programs you ran before this started happening?

    I hope they fire the bastard who made some faulty products lately???
    I got an LG cd writer 16x10x40x and it died in 2 weeks.Lost all reading abilities.Waiting for news on when i get it back.

    Angry thanks for the replies

    i gave my cd-drive to a service center. they said it is having some misalignment problems. the repair cost is half the price of a new drive.

    hi there,
    this is scorpion talking on behalf of joseph..at the service centre i was told that carriage mechanism was faulty and the reason why the drive read a few cd's and rejected a few others was that there is something wrong with the read head.and that it had to be replaced.i was able to boot from a linux and windows98 cd..but i could not boot from my windowsNT cd which is in perfect shape..this problem appeared all of sudden..its a new one and since it was a new one i used to be careful in handling it.i hope i have elaborated my problem..anyway i have given it to the service center and i am going to collect it..i will be asking them about all that went wrong and what were replaced..
    ok gotta go now..
