Linux Newbie Forum??
I think a Linux Newbie forum would be a good idea, so that people can ask questions about basic linux installation and configuration (including but not limited to security considerations).
Anyone agree with me, or is it already fine with the Newbie forum and the AO General Chit-Chat forum??

I think its a great idea. It would be easier for newer Linux users to be able to find responses from experienced users.

good idea but.
I think it would be a good idea, but it doesn't really seem necessary. For install and setup there is already some good things in the tutorials. For security, anything that applies to unix (almost anything that is) applies to linux also. There is already a lot of good information here. It would be nice to consolidate it, but I don't thing it is required.

I don't think its required, just useful...
Maybe it could be called *nix & Linux Newbie Forum
I think that some new linux users don't make the association with Unix therefore the fact that the forum would say Linux in its name would mean that Linux questions maybe weren't posted to the MS Security or General Chit-Chat forums, maybe??

It seems usefull, but you do get a quick response when you ask something about Linux in general forums.
I did somewhere at the end of a post that wasn't going about Linux at all and I did get some response for it on PM so , ppl here are really nice and some (perhaps the majority) know Linux very good.
greetz to Vorlin.

I think there are enough Linux newbie questions to warrant a separate forum, although really if want specific help you should visit a site such as Linux Format which specialises in Linux.

Greetings:
There are other general linux help sites out there that are far better than anything we could begin to start. We're going to stick with what this site specializes in, which is obviously security. Thanks for the suggestion though!
