linksys router and MSN Messenger file transfers

I can't use the MSN file transfer function with my ney Linksys rounter....It blocks the file. I tried DMZ but no luck

You need to find out which TCP or UDP ports MSN uses.
Then what ever port(s) you use port forward to your internal IP (Ex: 192.168.x.xxx port 2000 to 2005)

The latest firmware update is supposed to have a fix for that. You can get it at linksys.com.

To enable voice communications, make sure that outgoing TCP connections from port 6901 are enabled. Also enable UDP packets where either the source or the destination port is 6901.

To enable file transfers, enable both incoming and outgoing TCP connections to the 6891-6900 range of TCP ports. This allows each sender to perform up to 10 simultaneous file transfers. Note that if only TCP port 6891 is open, users are only able to perform one file transfer at a time.

To enable messaging, enable outgoing TCP connections to TCP port 1863.

I have the same router and mine works fine? did you set it up all correctly? I dont have a clue as to why it is doing that. Sorry

MSN Messenger default port is 1863

BUT.....if that port is unavailable it will use the 'default proxy port' in browser settings.

The Linksys'(s) I have installed all pass MSN Messenger by default. (even after I tried blocking port 1863 !!)

If your Linksys isn't passing it......try resetting to factory default settings.

nothing seems to work...according to linksys MSN Messenger and NAT do not get along at all

In the Advanced/Forwarding section of your Linksys router did you add the ports to the port triggering section where the apply button is?
BTW I use MSN to send files and recieve without a problem with a 1 port Linksys Router and no ports configured. With firmware 1.40.2
