no reply is the best solution, especially when some people just post annoying things because they know it will set off a 3 page thread of flaming. and they probably don't even come back to read any of it.

You'd think the ignore feature of this site would not be too hard for you elite hackers to use

Where did that come from? I must have missed seeing where it was quoted from when I read the thread here.

I agree with this practice, if you don't like what was said in a post the best thing to do is not reply and move on. AO is busy enough that the post in question will quickly fade from view and the message will be clear to the poster.

    Anyway -- Merry Christmsas.

    Lightbulb A different view point

I have a different point of view for the subject, if you don't mind me posting, lord_darkside_x.

I beleive, in the General Chit Chat area of course, we should be allowed to post whatever our hearts desire...weather it be oblio talking about a jam session...or Ennis spreading the Christmas Spirit. I think your bais against oblio's thinking. I'm sure he came here with best of intentions...he just sorta...drifted, if you know what I'm talking about.

    *chuckles*

But I'm with you when it comes to the *Nix Security, Windows Security, Networking Security, etc., etc. forums. Posting bullsh*t in there isn't the best place. Leave that for e-mail or the General Chit Chat.

I agree with Web Carnage that we should be allowed to post anything we want, but I would encourage anyone who wants to reply to something that is likely to start a flame war to think twice if it's even worth saying anything. Esp. if you know it's going to start a long series of back and forth posts that don't really concern anyone else. Sometimes it's best to just read and move on and forget. Usually it's just a waste to bother flaming back, but if you must General Chit Chat is the place for it. No where else please.

when I was five I tried to burn down the next door neighbours hedge, that's all I have to say about flames. Don't mess with them they get you in trouble.
Is there anybody out there that can tell me what it\'s like to have a bone broken by a stick.
