Thumbs down how to tell if your kid is a malicious hacker?????

Hey guys.. i was just reading some things on this website and i came across a section that tells you how to tell if your kid is a malicious hacker.. I was reading through and saw a sentence that asked.. "5. Every good parent should be aware of the type of reading material their children are choosing. Does your child have a subscription to "2600" .. as if reading 2600 somehow makes you a malicious hacker???? Thats holding a huge prejustice against people.. isnt that what were trying to defend against? .. 2600 does not condone malicious acts.. they serve to inform people of the deepests workings of technology... if a kid reads this he is a malicious hacker?.. people who read that mag are in a search on knowledge.. that should be supported.. in antionlines deffinition of a hacker they state; "hacker n. - A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities" .. wouldnt reading 2600 help them explore all the details.. anyway.. what do you guys think?

As i get older i see that adults are just as ignorant as children . 2600 does not encourage malicious hacking although it is discussed as a means of civil disobedience , with no tutorials on how to hack how can 2600 be blamed for insighting hactivism.
I.T. and the net came from the department of defense and hackers were behind the innovative ip protocols ma bell laughed at the idea of a computer network , now because a child might have enough skill to render a network useless we as adults want to stop his growth. the navy seals have a saying "We arent that good its just everybody else sucks".

    Re:

    SilentTone has a point here...
I like the structure of his post.

    (Ex)= general operator
    ^ and operator
    - negation (not operator)
    -> (if) then
    Mx member AO
    Cx cracker
    2600x 2600 reader
    K knowledge

    (Ex)[Mx - Cx]
    (Ex)[2600 -> Cx]
    __________________________
    (Ex)[Mx - 2600x]

    (Ex)[Mx ^ K]
    (Ex)[2600x ^ K)
    __________________________
    (Ex)[Mx ^ 2600x]

    Prob: [Mx ^ 2600x] and [Mx - 2600x] = contradiction Mx

    LOL

    Cool 2600

nobody's perfect, you shouldn't have to look for signs that your kid is a hacker. They're children make it a point to violate their privacy every chance you get. Check the Hard Drive, pester him about hacking confront him every chance you get. Checking for "signs" doesn't accomplish anything other than cause you to throw suspicion where it shouldn't be thrown. Make sure you go thru his cds and his drives, make him dencrypt any suspicious items, if he doesn't do it, shatter the cd. When he does check out what it is, if it's porn then show some class and walk away, if it's hacking utilities it should be painfully obvious what your kid is doing and what his lv is, IE if you find 3 copys of BO and 2 copys of Subseven and the latest SATAN util whip his ass and take his hard drive. He's a kid, you own his ass till he's 18 don't let him forget it.

We might as well assume that if a person is a member of the NRA, they go around shooting people for the fun of it; if someone does research on the physics behind an atomic explosion, they're gonna nuke us; if someone notices that an ad has popped up randomly on their co-worker's computer showing gay porn, then that co-worker is gay...

Anyone get what I'm trying to say?

Probably not, but it was worth a try

    God bless

I know you\'re out there. I can feel you now. I know that you\'re afraid. You\'re afraid of us. You\'re afraid of change. I don\'t know the future. I didn\'t come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it\'s going to begin. I\'m going to hang up this phone, and then I\'m going to show these people what you don\'t want them to see. I\'m going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.

Speaking of 2600 and NRA and crap, does anyone know the Bernie S story?

He was arrested for making/selling red boxes. When he got arrested, he had like 1/2 dozen of them (that were not completed). The police searched his house, and out of over 100 books, 2 of them included instructions on how to make a bomb. Because of those 2 books, the judge determined that he was a "menace to society" and withheld bail.

Damn parents cant see past the word 'hacker', when they see hacker they see some evil lil cracker taking down the damn FBI and Im not going overboard, parents are blind to the fact the hackers may actually have ethics.

    Tsk.

    parents?

    Ethics? White Hat?
As a parent of some up and coming "hackers" (for lack of a better term for someone really interested in the inner workings of computers, networks, etc.) and a 'puter geek myself I'd have to say that people need to stop with the witch hunt. If you really want to know what your kids are up to the why don't you just talk to them?
Is it so horrible to have to interact with your progeny or is it just easier to blame some outside website, magazine, music for your shortcomings.
    End of rant.
