I gotta question for ya!
Hey all,
I'm new here I gotta say I love this place.. I'ts easy-going and informative, just wish school was the same way..heh. Anyways I thought I'd pose a question for you.
Does the old saying, "The best defense is a good offense" accurately portray hacking?
Any opinions, comments, and suggestions are welcome.

Well a better saying concerning security would be a good offense means nothing if you have a great defense.
Wine maketh merry: but money answereth all things.

A good offense means nothing if you *don't* have a great defense.

Hmm,
In reply to Methods I think you have your quote the wrong way round when it comes to computer security. The important thing is to have effective security on your system.
You will find that all good hackers take considerable measures to try and cover their tracks - which work a lot of the time.
