Google
Greets everyone. I think that AO needs a search engine.
Preferable Google since it was voted and recomended
by a lot of members here at AO and it would be a great
feature.. just a suggestion though.

So what sort of search engine would we use? Can't we just direct people to http://www.google.com? Wouldn't that work just as well?
Oh, and bout your sig... total security IS possible... unplug your frickin computer from the wall, and throw it out the window. No more hacker trouble!

I know you\'re out there. I can feel you now. I know that you\'re afraid. You\'re afraid of us. You\'re afraid of change. I don\'t know the future. I didn\'t come here to tell you how this is going to end. I came here to tell you how it\'s going to begin. I\'m going to hang up this phone, and then I\'m going to show these people what you don\'t want them to see. I\'m going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.

I suppose we could but dont you get tired of giving ppl
that same url over and over and over.. now you can just
tell em to go to the front page of AO.. If JP adds it to the site

Google says its going towards more commercial advertising. maybe we should see how far the go first.

in my opinion, i think there is no point in making search engines that uses the google's. it would make the site more complicated. why not going to google.com and do the search there. but if it is the majority why don't we do it.

IMHO its a nice idea as long as it don't make the site more complicated. I kind of like AO's clean look (a bit confusing at first look though :)). But maybe a optional search page with more than one search engine listed?

Uhm... I don't think it's a good idea. Too much potential trouble. There is more info on google here. But I would go against it. Neat, but not really necessary, and it might just cause some extra server load.

Terr, I fail to see the potential 'trouble' of having a searh engine.
Of course it's not necessary but it would be a neat feature to have.
How can a search engine cause the server to over load?
You see on the front page of AO where it says 'About Antionline'?
Just make it a box about that size to fit down there in the
lower left hand corner. Try it out for a while and if it causes
too much problems just remove it..
