    Question ICMP blocked question

Im running sygate, it blocks the following:

    Blocked ICMP Outgoing 224.0.0.C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSGSRV32.EXE

    Who is:

    IANA (NET-MCAST-NET)
    Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
    4676 Admiralty Way, Suite 330
    Marina del Rey, CA 90292-6695
    US

    Netname: MCAST-NET
    Netblock: 224.0.0.0 - 239.255.255.255

    Coordinator:
Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (IANA-ARIN) res-ip@iana.org
    (310) 823-9358

Domain System inverse mapping provided by:

ICMP packets are to do with 'ping' and 'tracert' commands. I'm pretty sure these are not

malicious communications. Maybe a more knowledgeable member could agree or not as

    the case may be.

224.x.x.x is the multicast address. It could be allot of things. What aplications are running?

It's probably just your computer announcing it's presence, windows tends to do that on initialization of the TCP/IP stack and at random intervals. Whether you block it or not probably makes no difference whatsoever.
