thks p2p. I went there already and it is the first one on the list, so it should work.

msg on boot - is ifconfig - bad name qfe0,,,,,,etc moving ipv4 address...failed etc.

Odd. I have no trouble with these babys in the other suns. Ifconfig won't cut it either once os is up. Weird.

from the guy down the hall:

Remove the hostname and "plumb" the interfaces. He'd also like to know why you ifconfig the interfaces, cause ifconfig is a bit fussy w/ qfe?
He'd need to know what version Solaris you are running and if you have all the interfaces named correctly.

Disclaimer: I haven't worked with the Quad interface so I'll have to go ask him......

thks KorpDeath. I've put some of these in u5s and u450e s but this is the first sunblade.

    Does he mean

    remove all the hostname.xxx files

It's sol 8. Sun states this card is req for the sunblade and sol8

I have named them qfex etc.

    card is a QFE x1033a, pn 595-4498-01

did that already, qfe0-qfe3 and ifconfig returns this error:

ifconfig : status: SIOCGLIFFLAGS qfex : no such interface.

Also as mentioned, ifconfig chills upon boot .

just for grins tried naming them hmex etc with appropriate changes elsewhere.

yaak. system hard hung. Ouch. Had to kill power.

Note enet on board is eri0 not hme0 as on other Ultra platforms.

Tried variety of diff names is /etc/hosts, chkd netmasks, rebuilt nodename and nssx, etc files. Killed off daemons too..

    Maybe a dev issue?

Your machine is looking for an interface named qfex? It should be looking for qfe0-qfe3. You can't use x for a qfe name.

    I hope that helps.
