The theory of intelligent design? -not smart
I was reading about this somewhat famous crack-pot theory and was wondering what you all thought of this. There is trial in Ohio(?) coming very soon were they will be debating whether or not to allow this "theory" to be taught to the children.
I personally think that this is a last ditch effort by the religious sector to infiltrate our schools and screw up the minds of already confused children. What about you?
Here's some info on the theory.

Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

Eh...it's iffy. Better than religion...but a bit "off" if you know what I mean. Intelligent decisions made by who though is the question? God? Spritis? Micro-organisms? Prokaryotes (single celled organisms)?
I don't think they should teach this stuff to already-confused kids though. That will just throw all religion down the drain, especially if tought at a young age. I think Biology and other sciences are a good enough intro to evolution. Which I beleive in. But hey...it's an opinion...a choice. You pick one and hope for the best...

Education exists to control the thinking of the young.
It is an inescapable concept.
Since the beginning of time, different competing
philosophers have desired to have their own
ideas given the status of "official" truth.
They want their philosophy to be the only doctrine
taught and believed.
The authoritarians in public education do not want
religion to exist, because it is a rival, rebel movement
that denies that the Government is the "supreme being"
If there is no "god", someone else will be the supreme
source of truth and morality. Banishing traditional religion
does not do away with the concept of a "supreme being".
if god isn't the supreme being, then "man"
is the next likely candidate, but that doesn't answer
the question:
Which man?
The "individual", or the "state"?
Libertarians want the individual to be the supreme
being, but they are fighting a losing battle with "statists"
who believe that the government is the supreme being.
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.
