    Most distributions of linux are available free for download. Also free are FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD if you are interested in Unix.

    why would you download red hat from a warez site where the files could be corrupt, the bandwidth low, and links usually broken when red hat has their own dedicated servers and mirrors for free?

    As well, most college public ftp servers have several distro's of Linux available on them. You get high bandwidth on them at off peak times. With a generaly huge selection of software and publications.
