reset question...

Hi all,
I know that this question is not related to network security but I'm really curious how is this possible...
A friend of mine just came to us and worked on our computer. Sudenly she pushed a sleep button on keyboard. Computer went to sleep mode. Till this point everythings OK. but now!) - she asked me what to do... I push the wake up button on keyboard. But nothing happened. So i tried Ctrl+Alt+Del nothing happend again... So my last chance - I pushed the reset button on computer but AGAIN NOTHING HAPPENED!!!
So my question is - tilll now I thought that reset is working in the way that it disconnects every circuits in computer... So how is it really workin?

Last thing it was normal ATX case...

Normally on most ATX computers this is how it works. Though on some namely a few Gateways, HP's and Compaqs. There is a conflict with WinXP, WinME, Win2000, and some of the so called "recovery programs". What happens is. It when you put it in sleep mode. The software or rollback progy (system restore) begens to back up the files. If you try to wake it up before this process is done. Wammo! It locks up. Since this software interfaces with the suspend and power functions of the MB and BIOS. The reset button won't respond. As well, you could have the settings wrong in the BIOS. You can actualy on most ATX systems. Enter the BIOS setup utility and configure the sleep timeouts, how long the delay is. Some allow you to assign functions pof the power and reset switches. Ie....press off=delay off...hold off+suspend and so fourth. My bet is the first one though. Go-Back and WinXP are bad for this.
