Will anyone Care to ask why?
Why is it that it wasn't a MORMON who flew a plane
into the World Trade center?
Why is it that it wasn't a BUDDHIST who murdered
Daniel Pearl?
Why is it that it wasn't a HINDU who assasinated
Bobby Kennedy?
Why is it that no JEW ever hijacked an airliner?
Who wants to make a guess?
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.

i see your point....but the answer to all of this is not religion bashing. USA=freedom of religion
this is what makes our country great. Thats why we came here. Unfortunatly IF in fact it IS their religion to wage Jihad we are in serious trouble.
It is better to be HATED for who you are, than LOVED for who you are NOT.

Anything in the extreme is not healthy. But to blame it on a religion takes the responsibility away from the person. It's the person's decision, whether it is due to their interpretation of their religion or revenge or whatever. They are to blame, religion is just the vehicle for their anger.
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

I believe that individuals are responsible for their actions,
but they are also responsible for their BELIEFS.
We only recently emerged from a 50 year long rivalry
with Russia.
Our position during this "coldwar" was that we had no
gripe with Russia or Russians, the issue was Marxism/Leninism.
The same principle applies with Islam.
It is an evil system of belief.
It is the inspiration for the present acts
of war and terrorism.
Ignore this, and be like Neville Chamberlain, who sold
out Czechoslovakia to Hitler in 1938.
He was a good man and a lover of peace, but
sadly mistaken in his estimation of the adversary.
You don't have to believe me. Just watch history unfold
before your eyes. World war three will be fought
over this issue.
Peace loving people will have this war imposed upon them
by the actions of the other side.

Islam professes only love and tolerance, just like most of the religions out there. It's the very few people who take advantage of the situation that make it look so bad. Just like Hitler took advantage of the economic problems with Germany and preyed on the fears of the masses. His answer, no matter how wrong, was at least something for them to cling to.

i normally stay outta this kind of stuff but...
<soapbox>
at one time or another all religions are abused - religion is politics, power and dominance..
spirituality is far different...it's what individual people feel...religion is a mass cultural effect...and like so many 'mass" anythings...it tends to be abused by a few at the top..
the real enemy isn't islam, judaism, christianity or any other...it's poverty, hunger and inequality...simply put... happy, well fed people aren't inclined to blow stuff up..
if you live in the western world...i'd thank whatever higher power you believe in every day that you are not born to the absolute and utter poverty that some of the "developing" world has to deal with every day...and while you're doin that thankin...maybe think about what you can do to help...
it will not get better until these fundamental problems are solved...ever...

this is all very true, and I agree completely with zigar....but we sometimes forget how powerful a religion is. If a leader claims to be from Allah...then they (followers of Islam) will follow him. To follow OBL from hatred is one thing, but to follow him because he tells you that Allah wants America destroyed is another.......he takes advantage of people's desire to follow their beliefs.
Like zigar was saying, religion is not the evil...but imagine religion to be like a huge weapon. A gun can be used to hunt and feed...or prey on the innocent.
