When you boot your computer, the first line should be your Bios Info (Compagnie, Version) or you can press DEL to get into the Bios Menu to check the Compagnie and version of your Bios. Then you should check the site of the compagny who made your bios for a update. But BE WARNED that if your shut down or reboot your computer while updating your BIOS, you motherboard is dead. Updating your bios is a very dangerous thing to do. Also, be sure that your BIOS is EEPROM. If you're BIOS is ROM, PROM or EPROM, you cannot do with a software.. Basically, EPROM need a ultra-violet light to be erased.. EEPROM is the only one that can be update with a firmware.

If you're not sure at 100% that you're doing the right thing, don't flash your Bios and ask a expert because it's the most dangerous thing to do on a computer.

If you don't want to risk updating your BIOS, or you have an old motherboard that doesn't support drives of >4 Gb, then visit the HD manfacturers web site. You will be able to dowload a tool that will install DDO software on your HD - this will work even with the most ancient of motherboards
Normally involves making a bootable floppy, which you use to install the software, and partition the HD if you wish to.
