I dare say the vast majority of peps here are aware that Mobman is the creator of the tool of choice for s|<ript |<iddies everywhere Sub7 Heres a couple of passages from an interview between him and LockDown Corp.......

i don't keep working on it because it's intended
for malicious use... most of the people don't see, or don't want to see many of the positive uses... i've
talked to admins who use it remotely to have complete control of other pcs, to parents who use it to watch their
kids, internet clubs, etc.

but then he goes on to say.....

Will the new Bot carry DDoS features such as Bionet Trojan and a multitude of other IRC Bots?

what legit use could there be for DDos bots???
Also what about the other options like screen flip and matrix....what use would a legit user have for these?

So you gotta ask who is really to blame the script kiddies or the people who supply them with the tools???

let's just start talking about the infamous 'kill switch' .... in order to maintain my privacy of my pc i've made one .... i know about the risks little kiddie doing it ... but it's worth it i mean 3 keys and puf *** not a single trace of anything interesting .... back to almost a virgin hdd...
( it does takes some 5 mins have to really erase those files .... )

so why not for the whole network ? i haven't used sub7 or any trojan since i have physical and remote accese legally but i could see the reasons to use it
i meean if you get a whole netowrks that got priamry isdn and uses a 5th of it capacity , the informal ftp could be instaled there specialy with all the spare hdd laying around ( as long as it doesn't hinder the perf of the netowrk) and who will come check on you ? the boss you know his busy trying to figur out why theboss'sname.tart.com leads him to a porn site ....
yet if an audit shows up kill switch for the whole network and blame it on the 'experts' ....

Um, with all the DDoS attacks, multiple companies are trying to come up with ways to defeat them. So maybe a legitimate use would be to try and test an Anti-DDoS appliance.....yeah, or something like that.

How long till we get a multitude of postings saying "Where can I find the new Sub-7? and how do I use it?" I think someone should write a tutorial on how to use Sub-7, but make them DDoS themself....or maybe just toss a format c: command in there someplace...

okay for starters i am not PRO-sub7


1. DDoS functions could be implemented into a bunch of computers on a network so that the owner could test DDoS methods against his own network to see how much it could handle in floods before it is nocked off

2. Flip screen and Matrix are probly just there so show users how easy it is for a "hacker" to litterly f with ur head and make u see how serious opening 1 exe or scr or any other executable file can mean to ur computer

3. Sub7 if used by people who want to run it on thier computers to remotely control them is stupid considering there has been 2 master passwords already found for previous versions meaning almost any idiot that knows how to find this info will have complete remote access to your computer.

4. Why would u want to have backdoor access to your win 95/98/ME computer anyway? most people that runs multiple computers that need remote access to them run NT/2k/XP any last time i checked sub7 didnt work on any of them yet.

5. MobMan's last release of sub7 was 2.2 and it made netbus look advanced. Sub7 2.2 had so many bugs and errors that users accually use version 3 releases older because they are accually better, So even if mobman does release a newer version i highly doubt itll do much more damage then any of the older versions.

6. Sub7 is just not a backdoor many people use for DDoS because there are many other trojans that do 100xs more then the sub7 IRC bot does and is less then 50k's big.

DDoS attacks could be used to test your server under heavy loads and to protect it from attack. Apart from this I can't see any legit use for them.
