strange, but unfortunately not true...
hello all,
using opera this morning on a 56K connection i was somehow able to get the massive bandwidth of 26k a sec over 56k, i know its theoretically not possible, but would this sort of thing be caused by cached data retrieval being reported as your transfer rate from a site online?
just looking for clarification, no big disaster
also, im told that the theoretical highest speed for 56k is about 7k a sec if you connect at 56k, is this true or am i a little bit out with my assumptions here?

56kbits/8bits=7kbytes/s
Another possibility is that the number is based on some average that got screwed up to to a lag in updating it, but I think you're likely right about the number being due to a cache hit.
