    FreeBSD: SOCKS Proxy Server?

The title pretty much says it all.

I am looking for a SOCKS server, and I have found Dante. But it looks a bit overkill for my needs. I only need it to be able to DCC on IRC. Does anyone have any suggestions, or know of any other SOCKS server, which is more lightweight.

Also, I found socks5 in the Ports System, but I have no idea what it is. A client or server?

    Thanks for the replies.

IchNiSan: yeah, I did use Google. But I came up with nothing. And I even went through the search that you linked to. And still nothing that fits my needs.

sweet_angel: From what I gathered from the Nylon webpage, and very briefly, its Man Pages. It looks like what I need. Thanks.

I figured you had used google to search, but, so many people don't use it before they ask a question that I had to at least put the option out.

Hopefully you are all set now.

    Good Luck,

You can try out the old junkbuster personal proxy. It's really simple, but I think it supports SOCKS. Get it here: http://www.junkbusters.com/ijbfaq.html#u

Socks5 is the original implementation of the socks5 proxy and client by NEC. It's free for non-comercial use, but for some reason (last time I checked) they don't distribute it (at least not on there website) anymore... I guess they just don't maintain it anymore...

I've downloaded it before but never did install it because pf/ipf NAT on openbsd was doing an appropriate job already for me...
