Windows 2000 Security Benchmarks
The Center for Internet Security (CIS) has released a new baseline security benchmark for Windows 2000 Server. The CIS charter as quoted from their site is:
Center for Internet Security– a not-for-profit cooperative organization assisting network users and operators, and their insurers and auditors, to reduce the risk of significant disruptions of electronic commerce and business operations due to technical failures or deliberate attacks.
There are baseline benchmarks established by consensus for Windows 2000 Pro, Windows 2000 Server and Windows NT. CIS offers a scoring tool you can run to validate your machines against their benchmarks and identify the areas that are weak.
