Thanks for the entries and comments thus far folks. As far as colors, we're open to suggestions for the color scheme of the site, which is why we didn't specify which colors to use. Width and height should be approximately those of the current logo. We didn't want to get too specific, as we'd rather give folks an open window with respect to design, etc.

The winning logo will indeed replace the current logo throughout the site. We'd appreciate some input on the sort of logo folks think would reflect the concepts and ideals represented here on AO. Some of those I've seen so far have been quite impressive...I tend to think we'll get a varied group of designs, but that's what this contest is about--letting everyone who wishes have a go at it. In the end we'll have a logo that we can all be proud of.

Okay, here is another entry of mine. um, im just using simple M$ paint to make mine with no cutting or pasting...is that vector based. im pretty sure it is. but if not they can all be changed.....practically freehand so....

o yea, and i just make the AntiOnline part, the rest can be filled in later if its really needed. and i didnt use colour cause i like the current AO colour scheme.... maybe i change would be good.

and yes, Australians spell Color (American) Colour (Australian) hehe, just i case you didnt know

okay...im not sure if Trust_Not_123 was being sarcastic, but vector based means an image that is made up of mathematical caluclations, not made up of specific colors at specific coordinates. i.e. a jpeg is NOT a vector based image, since the jpeg is made up of pixel by pixel colors. a 'freehand' or 'illustrator' image IS vector because the image is not made up pixel by pixel, it is made up by...for example: at cooridinate 3,4 draw a circle with radius 6 pixels and fill it with orange.
Does that clear things up or not? oh well i tried...
i might make another logo later on when the dead line approaches.

good idea!...but isn't that just security, community and advice? (that makes a good slogon! )
and...i was wondering if it would have been wiser to make two seperate threads, one for entries ONLY and one for discussion on the way the logo should look. i also had another idea where after the dead line, the JM admins would collect ...say their 5 most favourite logos, then post a thread with those 5 logos. Then the AO community could vote for which of the 5 logos they wanted. That way...everyone's happy...sorta

Another submission. Could be quickly redone in a vector capable prog as soon as I download one. Personally I like the existing colours but they can be changed according to taste.

    Cheers

    Trust_Not_123,

It was ment to imply AO is a haven of computer security knowledge and hopefully the knowledge makes you safe. Maybe a little unclear... , but yeah you are right dangerous files abound!

the archives of files are *meant* to be for research purposes, so that 'hackers' and security professionals are on the same level and have the same access to each others 'tricks of trade'.
