One Virus Engine Is Not Enough

This white paper explains why anti-virus software alone is not enough to protect your organization against the current and future onslaught of computer viruses. Examining the different kinds of email attacks that threaten today’s organizations, this paper describes the need for a solid server-based content-checking gateway to safeguard your business against email viruses and attacks.

<sarcasm>Wow. What a nice advertisement for GFI's Mail Security program. Really appreciate the spam.</sarcasm>

Seriously, though, I think that most businesses see the need for AntiVirus products in conjuction with a firewall and possibly a server-side e-mail blocking/filtering solution. I suggest, if you're going to post something like that, provide some personal feedback on it, rather than copying and pasting the information the original poster put up. Reading a white-paper (which appears to be more of a press release than anything in this case) is one thing, but actually hearing about your own feelings on it is a lot more beneficial.

Well adven...I am not spamming. Just provided a paper written by GFI for someone to start through. I am experienced AV user with large corporate installations starting from 1000 to 35000 PC's and really you will not appreciate the words I would say for AV products.

I think you find nearly all large and medium sized fire will have some form of content security, reading and scanning incoming email, how ever the AV they plug into their content scanner will nearly always be the same as the what is installed on the desktops.

So to sum up most firms already have it in place and second they will generally only use one AV product in both the content scanner and there desktops.
