Well im sad to say that one of my comps is broken due to neglect from my family (its a family comp & its very lame). First off they didn't let me atleast tweak some seting to make it more secure. I went into a few games and had to boot peaple for flameing me for no reason and a few cheaters.... yeah I booted a few of those guys too. For some reason the comp has gain advitisor on it. And recently the modem is fried cause of a power surge.

The good news is i get to fix it, I can still play my offline games, and I don't have to worry about game-lamers & gain popups anymore. LOL!

My account seems to suffer from Peter Pan syndrome, it never wants to grow up. I believe it had to do with helping JP with his charity event, when he marked me for that something in my account changed and now I'm stuck as the eternal noob until someone goes in and fixes it.

Also, he wasn't IN Asia, he is in Georga (Or hosever you spell it, I'm not American...*shrug*) And, we have his IP and his ISP, and he says that ComCast, whom is his ISP, won't give a **** about what he did when their TOS says....

    # Illegal Activities - Any activity which violates local, state, federal or international law. Examples include: Posting or disseminating illegal material (such as child pornography or obscene material) or using the Comcast Network to facilitate pyramid or other illegal solicitation schemes.

    # Security - Attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Comcast network, Comcast subscriber or a Comcast affiliated service provider's network resources; attempting to disrupt network services or services of external networks using the Comcast High-Speed Internet service; attempting to gather third party personal information without consent. Examples include: DoS attacks, computer virus distribution or the transmission of any other software or application that contains features harmful to the Comcast network or Comcast's subscribers or any other network service provider's subscribers.
And apperently tons of logs won't do much either, or so he claims. :-\ Even him admitting to it....Haha.

Yes, I know I have to have atleast $5000 in damages to get authority invloved, but I could contact his ISP and either disconnect his account, or have them moniter him, correct? *shrug*

    Anyways, food time.

as isotronicis was sayin, its those scans that are on polite it sends a packet every .04 seconds, which means if you have a IDS, its gonna go right under the radar, while this can be very time consuming for the attacker, he has all the time in the world. and i know i dont need to tell you guys this but once that scan is complete, and the attacker has scanned, firewalked (providing your not a proxy based FW) ran tracerouted as well as nessus on your network, if you havent noticed it....its probably not gonna be good. But MB has handled this situation very well so far, IMHO i dont think theres a point in taking it to the autoritys, he is probably reading this board and knows he can get proper f**ked if the right ppl are informed, so i wouldnt worry about it, hes obviously not that big of a worry sense, like we have been saying, he couldnt even carry out a DoS, so theres no nee dto say "yeah, but he could do this to someone else", just my 2cents though.

He thought a plain ol' ping flood would take down a server? From a single host? C'mon.....embryonic tcp connections, that's the way to go.

Haha, did I mention he was dumb? He admitted to doing it, and then he told me logs from about 10 different people, plus my firewaall and other logs couldn't prove anything and that his ISP would juts laugh at me. Well, I say cheers for all the people named mike on ComCast.net who claim to live with thier girlfriend in Georga (In her parents house, by the way) who thinks it's cool and fun to DoS small communitys around the net.

Heh, do you know anyone named mike USING ComCast? If so, do us all a favour and hurt him.

Also, do you use ComCast, if so, do you know what action they would take agianst this kind of stuff?
