Yeh...give the kids some privacy...put urself in they're shoes. I can understand if they're gettin in trouble cuz of porn and hacking...but as far as messanger's and just regular activity...be real. Especially messanger...they're just talkin to they're friends or online friends...u mise well tap they're phones if u want to log that crap. But if ur kids get in trouble cuz of porn or pirating software or whatever u consider bad then i understand ballad but give the kids some privacy.

I agree to a certain amount of privacy, but if the kid is not doing his jobs around the house, maybe he needs a little restriction from the computer.

el-half are you serious? I don't have kids yet, but when I do have kids I will be watching them. It would be my right as a parent to know what, my kids are doing.
I dont' see anything wrong logging what children are doing on the computer.
Maybe a new thread in the cosmos?

How about setting a BIOS password and switching off when you're out.
Then you can power up the PC after chores have been done.
It will also prevent bootups from floppy/cd etc in an attempt to crack the box.

Set him a time limit on how long he can use the computer. If he doesn't follow the time limit then restrict his use of the computer. And if this conitinues while you are at work and mom allows it then it is her fault for his bad behavior not yours. If you have made rules and they are not being followed while you are not there just because she doesn't enforce them then she needs to quit fussing about it. Theres no unwritten rule that Dad has to be the bad guy all the time.

Kids--do not need privacy. If I had kids, which I do not at the moment, I'd monitor everything they do... on the computer, or away from the computer. Being 19, I know what goes on, and Kids are not behaving appropriatley.
Privacy, can be gained over time.
Some people feel Kids need to learn from expirence, but that's wrong. They need a nice iron fist. Slapping them in place. Because they just don't know better. They'll do what they want anyways, but at least they'll get the idea its wrong. BUT WITH media corruption, kids today feel that if there parents are too strict that they arent loved. I'm not sure why, its messed up. ITS ALL YOUR FAULT.

Not if you've got a locking case like mine.

Ork I do agree that a kids privacy is an earned thing and in no way a right...but I would disagree with the idea that the media is any worse today then it has ever been...I have seen some of the filmes from the 20's that where viewable by anyone, we are tame compared to then..and volence has allways been their even during the years that the religious groupes ruled hollywood.
Who is more trustworthy then all of the gurus or Buddha’s?
