How do I secure my Linksys Wifi network?

I just recieved my first wireless network as a xmas present. It's a 2.4ghz, 802.11b, 11mbps Linksys Wireless 4 port switch router. It works pretty good so far no complaints. I was wondering if anyone else had this same router and could offer me some security tips? I'm not sure how all this works yet. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far. I have some other questions like how can I set the distance to a 100ft ? My laptop battery doesn't work so I can't really test but it worked in the driveway when I pluged it in. And how can I only restrict access to the my laptop since it's the only mobile device I have so far?
