I cannot give you a freeaware but Textpad http://www.textpad.com/ is nice utilites!

And unless I'm complety out of my head, Microsoft Word can do that in your select a webpage and put in in HTML mode.

EditPlus (http://www.editplus.com) is also a very nice generic editor. If you are on a flavour of unix, you should check out Vim. It's a Vi clone, and will be a bit tough to learn, but once you do, you'll never go back. I cannot count the times I have done ESC+:w+ENTER in OpenOffice or any other editor accidentally.

I wouldn't recommend using MS Word for editing html code. Code produced by this program is messy and really doesn't follow W3C recommendations.

Very good is IMHO html kit. http://www.chami.com/html-kit/

So true! So true but everyone has to start somewhere! They cannot learn HTML, the easiest language like that?

Right Everyone has to start somewhere. But I don't think that Word is the right place. Two reasons for that:

    1. I don't think that they will learn much, when they just type the text (not code) and Word will do all the work. I think that they can learn better when they try to write the code themslelf. It's slower but they will learn something.

    2. Even if they learn something they will learn bad habits! It§s something like sports... Better way IMHO to learn is to learn how to do things right at the beginning. Not learn somehow to (for example) ski and then other 5 years learn how to ski right

But of course - it's just my opinion and maybe for someone is really better to try something in word, see what it has done, try to repair it, etc etc...

I remember learning HTML back in the 1996-97 with the CGI chat where you could use html code. Ah, the good time
