    Question about the HOSTS file

I looked at my HOSTS file and there is A LOT of 127.0.0.1 with a website url after that..
    example :

    127.0.0.1 desktop.kazaa.com
    127.0.0.1 www.altnetp2p.com
    127.0.0.1 alpha.kazaa.com
    127.0.0.1 shop.kazaa.com
    127.0.0.1 www.bonzi.com
    127.0.0.1 www.brilliantdigital.com
    127.0.0.1 www.b3d.com
    127.0.0.1 media.altnet.com
    127.0.0.1 www.altnet.com
    ... etc

there is like 200-300 lines there..
Is that normal? Is this some kind of cache? I don't even remember going to these adresses, so if it's a cache, when does it get deleted?

no its not 'normal'. someone/something had to write those entries in. you'll find you cannot go to any of those addresses because your computer will be looking for these sites locally not on the internet. 127.0.0.1 is know as the loopback address or the address for LocalHost.

this is not necesseraly a bad thing and can be used to keep a browser from going to malicious web pages in pop-ups or blocking annoying ad servers.

looking at those addresses id keep the hosts file exactly as it is.

Most of the kazaa sites have adware/spam in it (kazaagold.. etc).

KL Supertrick was a ad-on to Klite, I think that modified your host file.

If you need a clean host file, you can go here
