    "General Info" thread?

I mentioned this in one of the GCC threads, and got a lot of positive feedback on it, so I thought I'd toss it in here and see if anyone bites.

We have a lot of great sticky's in different forums, everything from the Newbie FAQ, to a guide to Netiquitte, to Avatar links. I thought it would be a good idea to put them all in one forum, where they might all easily be found by members who don't neccesarily read GCC at all.

In order to avoid having it junked up with a bunch of useless stuff, maybe you could make it a forum that can't have new threads started without an admin or mod starting it, or pinning a topic in there? If people write threads, or read one, that they think should be pinned in there, maybe have them notify a mod about it? I don't know about this part, I'm just kinda tossing out ideas as they come to me.

I think that's a great idea.. maybe a subset of the newbies section.
All important FAQ's.. etc. could be copied into there.. (without all the other member's comments) the topics locked and only a mod or admin could post or put new ones in.

Actually Deb.. we wouldn't really need a new forum section but one big thread that contains the links to all the other relevant threads.. stickied and locked. If a member has addtions that could be added, then MsM or Neg could add them in for us.. Deb.. would you volunteer to collaborate with me and anyone else that wants to help in compiling such a list ?

Sure, I'd be more than happy to help, but I started a new job today, so I'm a little snowed under this week. This weekend I could do whatever needs doing

***This is only a beginning, I only got thru the "Security Discussions" Forum. However, it's about time for me to call it a night***

Questions about Antionline would be a good forum to put these in.

*Contacting a moderator or administrator from that forum :

*A guide to Antionline and the world of security:

*New here? Then read this!!!! :
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=251402 : both from Newbie Security Questions

*Excellent MS Security Resource: Microsoft Security Discussions: http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=248889

I'd like to see a thread listing of all free AV's, firewalls, trojan detection sites, spyware/adware detectors etc available and made sticky too. And I know there are host files on here somewhere that you can add to your firewall, that should be made a sticky in here too.
