Is there an index.dat in IE 6.0?

And how do I go about cleaning it out?

OS is NT with SP 6
    I use IE 6.0

EZSCAN has attempted to run a scan on me, but I've
shut it down several times (I'm at work, hehe)

I don't have a DOS disk and my only shutdown options are shutdown
and restart (no restart in DOS or fun things like that).
I say this cause I've seen the article that addresses this by shutting down
and restarting in MS DOS mode.

I am unable to locate an index.dat file on a scan of my C drive.

    Any suggestions?
    I drank what?

    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Cookies\index.dat -- (WinXP)
C:\Windows\Cookies\index.dat -- (WinNT) (either that or in the program files\IE\cookies)

    i think...

you can clean index.dat by downloading a software SuperCleaner from the following site

or if you prefer free ware there's always Spider from here

its a bit on the old side but it does the job well enough

PS as well as Tempests path you'll also find it in XP under

    C:\Documents and Settings\User\local settings\temporary internet files\content.IE5\index.dat

    Very convienent.

I wish I remembered who posted the links I used, as I'd give them
    a bag of kudos.

    Anywhoo, this works nicely.

if you're referring to this post

then that'd be me.... . I'm a big proponent of using a RAMdisk for internet browsing history... not completely fool proof but it works in 'most' situations
