Windows Xp and some internet problems
Ok heres the deal, i know for a fact i must have like 1000 spyware crap attached to my system, Iv got a brand new e machine with xp on it, i used it foolishly downloading things off of kaaza and i fear that i have done something i shouldnt have. I can connect yes, but i cant go to any pages, none... ziltch...
Can tons and tons of spyware mess up your connections with the internet and keep you from being able to visit other pages?
Im not familiar with xp very much, i havent messed with it alot, but can i use my restore disc and whipe all the sh*t out and start over? or reformatt the hard drives?

If you got a original WInXp home edition CD you can install the OS again and format the HD during the install (That is the last solution). Or if you have a Restore.Recovery CD you can use that also. Or you could use these programs to remove spyware, trojans, ad-aware and viruses.

Ad-aware: http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10...ml?legacy=cnet

I would recommend going to start, program, accessiories, command prompt, enter the following syntax: ipconfig/flushdns this command will purge the DNS Resolver cache next completely turn your system off for 20-30 seconds then turn it back on. If this doesnt work next I would recommend open Internet explorer go too tools, internet options, click on the programs tab at the top, click the button below that says "reset web settings you will see a dialog box that says "are you sure you want to reset the web settings back to Internet exporer default settings," click yes. Close Internet Explorer and reopen this should fix it. Do you have work offline checked? Did you clear your cookies, temporary internet files, cleared history yet? Are you using a firewall? Do you have any antivirus, spyware software running while internet explorer is running? Do you have proxy sever checked in Internet Explorer? Tried uninstall & reinstall Internet Explorer? Repair it? You may end up having to reset or re-install any isp software. All these different techniques should be ableto fix this issue. Hope this helps, ComputerNerd22

Some firewall can close you connectiont to internet sometimes so check up it.
You may be have disabled access for IE to internet in firewall settings.
Efter you internet will work, first you must do is install some antispy software and update it.
You can also try to install some other kind of browsers, as netscape or firebird, mozila or opera or k-meleon. It is good to have when you working with iternet or have some problem.

Have you done the standard delete cookies, files and offline content?
I had a similar problem that I was able to resolve with Norton Windoctor.

No, deleting your cookies from Internet Explorer will not cause you to lose any of your "favorites"
If your worried about losing your favorites, you can open your favorites folder in Windows Explorer, send all those links to a zipped file and back them up to another partition/drive/disk/cd......
I back my favorites up periodically.
