    Lightbulb Need Help

I am using Win ME. Recently I run a small files recovery and deletion utility called "Restoration" and I used a complete deletion function which replaces physical sectors. However, I cancelled the process when it is only 51% completed. The next day when I want to run scandisk, it give an error saying that a program such as disk utility has locked the drive. How can I "unlock" the drive? Is there any ways I can fix this? I really need you help. Thanks!

    Hey All

I am not familliar with this "Restoration " Utility, But it is my personal opinion that you should try the standard stuff or I would just do an FDISK/s and start over...I could be wrong, but it has been my experience that once you start having problems of this nature, the continue even after the "problem" has been repaired...

    Cheers and good luck

Stupid question, but have you tried to reboot the computer? That will remove the file locks. Depending on how restoration works will determine if it puts the locks back in place when the system reboots. You may have to run restoration and let it complete the cycle.

Ok, I have already solved my problem. I actually rebooted and also shutdown my computer but it could not work. So I start up my computer in DOS mode and do scandisk /all and it fixed the problem.
