Talking Which OS do you use?

I'm bored and curious to see which OS is most used on this forum.

I guess I'll entertain your inquiry. I use both Windows and Linux. I don't really have a favorite as I believe they both fill an important niche.

I use Linux (RedHat and SuSE), Windows (98SE, XP, 2003 Server), and Mac.

    My favorite would be Linux

Hmmmm. I own around 50-52 OSs. I use all of them depending on what I'm doing. Recent OSs I'v used:

Linux...Almost every distro you can think of.

    Windows....1.0 - Server 2003.

    MS-DOS 5.X-6.X

    PC-DOS 6.22

    BeOS Pro 5.0

    Free BSD 2.X - 5.X

    Net BSD

    Solaris 9

I do alot of formatting and OS installation. I like Windows XP, Windows server 2003 Enterprise Editon, BeOS, Linux, BSD, and UNIX.

Someday I'll actually use Mac OS X and let you know what I think.

I use Windows XP reluctantly and because I have to, Fedora Core 1 because it is the only Linux distro that suits all my needs and actually works, and I have a couple of Unix shell accounts.

I've toyed with Mac OSX and it looks absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately it doesn't run on any of my x86 hardware and I can't afford/justify buying a Mac.

Gore and myself have discussed this sort of thing in the past because we are interested in old hardware and OSes...........kinda hobby, like restoring old cars and motorcycles?

    To put it very crudely:

"I will use any OS that will buy me beer in the bar at the end of the day"

    nuff said?

    Cheers
