    kernel compiling...

This is my problem:I am trying to configure my devices in suse linux 8.2-which means that i had to configure the kernel, and recompile it-but the system cannot boot with the new kernel.
I've configured the boot-loader(i think correctly...)but when i try to boot from the new kernel,
there comes an error message:''Unrecognised string"
    Any good ideas?.......................................................................................................................

Visnu after the compile of the kernel, did you cp th image to your boot ?

Maybe the version of kernel and you bootloader section could be usefull here.
For.ex. the 2.4 kernel is very different from the 2.6 kernel and needs a different compile.

    Anyway please provide more info,
