there is an error on my disc whenever I install my intel webcam driver. It says error: "cannot extract the file". Is there a free driver download for intel driver win 98 version? I have to connect the camera from the usb first before driver installation right?

You should be able to get the latest driver from the manufacters web site.
As for installation of the camera and the software, usually they want you to instal the drivers before connecting the device using them, but,if you connect the device with the computer off the plug and play componant of windows will come into play and prompt you for the software to run the device.

You must load USB drivers BEFORE connecting the device.............if you have not done this, please uninstall everything and start over.
Who made the webcam? It is always best to get drivers from manufacturers rather than chipset providers, this is because manufacturers tend to modify the generic programs supplied by chipset makers...............
Are you sure your camera is actually compatible with the specs of the PC and your OS?
Cheers
