What the sh..
What in the crap happened?
Last night I left work around 5:30pm and when I came in this morning my machine has been acting funny. Like my google search bar is no longer intact my homepage has been reset when I ran my spyware checker I came up with a bunch of different programs. I checked logs and nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary. No one else has physical access to this computer. And, no one knows my password. So, I am wondering what could have happened?
I am running on w2k pro and I don't mind the OS.
One major thing that is annoying is that this bargain buddies thing keeps trying to connect but is stopped at the firewall and terminated?

Perhaps you have a ghost.
I would check on my phisical security. Do you have a cleaning service that comes in after hours? Or other employee's that might be able to get to your box after hours? Are you sure you locked down your computer when you left? Or possibly was it left on and avalible for anyone who walked by to use.
You might want to install a keylogger on your machine to see if anyone is accessing it during your absense.

Now this reminds me of Gore's story's you know the Bastard Sys Admin one's?
Anyhow did you talk to the SysAdmin?
Maybe something happened and he had to delete, or reinstall something, and failed to tell everyone?

No, I am asking around an no one touched it. I have my buddy that sits right next to me not 15 feet away that was here till close. As far as actually getting into my box no-one has the password (which changes just about every two days and it ain't my dogs name either). Time to check security films!!! Wahoo, I can find some pretty messed up stuff on their.
Not the sys admin doesn't do anything with out my OK. He must get in contact with me even if he wants to take a piss on the job! haha, no but he needs to contact me if he changes anything or if he doesn't contact me it goes into a log. And I already spoke with him this morning.
To get my googlebar back up, I had to delete it and reinstall it. I now have two programs by n-case I am trying to rid my baby of.
I am still baffled. ! . !
Thanks for the concern,
Adiz

Hmm.
1. Did you leave your machine switched on?
2. Is it connected to a network?
3. When did you last change your password?
4. Is there a default user account?
5. Have you checked the local profiles to see if there are other users there?
just a few thoughts
Cheers

1 - Yes, I was logged out
2 - Yes, however it is just a dev network about 10 machines hooked up
3 - Beginning of the week
4 - No
5 - Yes, and none others exist...the guest account has been disabled.
I am using spyhunter and it is finding a alot more than my spybot - search and destroy.
I really need to start worrying about security on my comp. It is just that sometimes I get wrapped up in completing a project I forget about it. I know it is important and I am a fool for not keeping better tabs on my security issues. Yuck! I am disgusted with myself.

Yes, if you have them avalible, that would be one of the first things I would do.
