search engines--my own thoughts..

hello frends,

i don't know whether i am in appropriate forum....i am new to security and issues...i want to share some novice knowledge of my own...plz kindly forgive if i am wrong...

everyone or other of us search--engines pretty often.i usally ask in the form of a query or as a question.....but the reply i get is rather dissappointing...i sure that many of my searches does not lead me to the destinations i want.......

so i have thought of this..if each site can have 'query tablets'....which is the query form of the data of what the site contains then the search can directly lead to appropriate site.


for eg:take the website www.antionline.com
then this site could have a query tablet as follows:
where can i get information about network security?
when the user types a query of this form in the search engine then it could directly lead to the site.the search engine after detecting the question mark symbol at the end of the query then it scans the query tablets of available sites....leading to the appropriate site....

How would that be fair for other computer and network security sites on the internet, AntiOnline is not the only one out there nor is it the biggest, or the best. Search Engines are called such, because you search for the topic you are looking for. If you want such a thing, why don't you go to one put in "network security" and enter the first page?

If you idea was even thought about being taken into consideration, there would be many outraged companies and independant websites, not to mention users searching, what if they didn't get what they want, and they couldn't get any more results, because the "search engine" told the person where to go?

Thats what good content and proper meta tags will do for a site. When it gets crawled and indexed it will be given a page rank relative to the content. Being specific on your searches will yield better results. Use quotes for specific words that need to be there.

Most search engines, while not taking you directly to a page with certain terms on them, will highlight your keywords on a page, and can give you small summaries of the contents on the page, thus enabling you to choose what site you want to go to yourself.

Just as an example, if your idea was introduced on any large search engine, and the webmaster of a site could create their own "tablet" to say whatever they wanted, you could type in virtually anything and end up with a porn site (something which almost happens atm).

Also, for most search engines, it is not recommended for you to type in queries as sentences because you will either get extra results which you don't need, or the search engine will just ignore the extra words anyway (like google ignores "and", "this", "is", etc.).

So, following that principle, if you want to search for c++ tutorials, instead of writing:

"Where can I find some c++ tutorials?" you would type

"c++ tutorials" or "beginners c++ tutorials", etc. All those extra words just cause more typing, and make everything more easy to understand...and we wouldn't want that.

i does not mean that the word 'network security' directly places u in the home page of antionline...
i mean to say that the query based answering makes the search more specific ,bcoz the sites themselves give the content of what they possess!

It would be the webmasters fault in where their webpage shows up in a search engine, not the search engines.

Another search engine tip:
Quotes (" ") mean search for that query excatly. ex "antionline tools and toys"
Addition Sign (+) means: Plus the word after. ex. "google" +adsense

Guys I just want to add my contribution since I have been using these engines for quite a while now.I primarily use google or alta vista which have been more than sufficient for me.For example if I am looking for a driver, say for instance lexmark inkjet colorfine for windows nt..., I first of all select the right language, then type lexmark and hit return, followed by inkjet and hit return, then colorfine hit return, and lastly the operating system nt.By narrowing it down step by step I have found that it usually comes close to what you are looking for.

Google has the "im feeling lucky button" which kind of follows that ideal, but gives you the option.
