up pointing arrow mystery
Is anyone familiar with the up pointing arow and how to produce it?
http://www.batutis.com/cgi-bin/i18n/...yte=00&char=1E
I cannot produce it from my keyboard, anyone know the key combination? I have seen it only a few times, it apears in the ascii table, and I also recall seeing it output to my screen from a qbasic program gone bad.
It has a hex code of 1E
I figure it must involve the ctrl key in combination with other keys.

Quite the challenge. This is part of the ISO 8879 Entity Set. I did find the following HTML Version, which has an impressive set. Look at the bottom tables I noticed an "up arrow". I think this might, however, give you a better direction of search.

Was not able to locate the same arrow looking at 8879 table in your link, however just found this
http://www.theworldofstuff.com/characters/
Black up-pointing triangle Alt + 9650
How in the world? I did alt 9650 and I cannot produce it. Maybe it is keyboard dependant, scancodes maybe. I'm trying every alt number combo around 9650 to see if they moved it but I produced the arrow above simply by copying and pasteing.
Funny thing is theis is part of a link to the next level of a hacking chalenge.
EDIT: looking at my post it does not show as black arrow anymore.

Running WinXP Pro.
Seems to change depending on where you input, however im not able to produce it yet with alt 9650 , i only copyed from the site. However in notepad I can produce it by alt 10014 (i just kept trying numbers, after increasing from 9650 upward to 9999 I started trying 10000 range. If now I go into the address bar of my browser alt 10014 produces something entirely difernt.
Also noticed trying to save with notepad asked me to save as unicode.

I'm either a "power user" or a junk collector. Haven't decided which.

I wonder how it would be urlencoded since its part of a url. The strangest thing I ever saw.
I came about it after modifying a exe file that either procudes Authroization failed or outputs the relitave uri of the next chalenge. Don't want to say more or ruin it for anyone else
Try the chalenge http://hackme.elderson.net/
It is so much difernt then other chalenges.
