    Angry Matcli

For the past couple of weeks, I've had a dos based program showing up when I start my computer.. It was named MATCLI. I looked it up on the net tonight and found this...

matcli stands for 'Motive Chorus Command Line Interface". It gathers information
    >about your system's identity like your name, e-mail address, city, state, etc. and
    >gets written to a log file. It is a Motive Powered Service from HP. To remove
    >matcli, uninstall 'hp instant support'. The standard way to remove this program
    >is by going to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs | Select
    >HP Instant Support | Change or Remove Programs | OK.

I went ahead and removed this program. Now I am experiancing problems with my internet explorer. I can not sign into MSN, Hotmail, or Groups!!!! I end up with that white "page cannot be displayed" window.. ACK! Can anyone help me? Anybody else heard of this program? I'm on cable internet also. And I've read that this matcli is involved with the high speed connections too. I'm so lost with this.

I also sometimes get an error box that says explorer has performed and illegal operation!!! From trying to sign into my hotmail?!?!!?

I found this posted in another forum, in response to a similar question posted by David. I was informed that the link at the bottom of the reply contains a solution, though I don't have any HP stuff, and can't replicate the prob. The link does appear to have some potential solutions from what I read.

Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.

I admit that the background process present after the installation of
the HP PSC 1210 all-in-one do consume some amount of system resources
but 47% is a really low figure. There might be other possible issues
with the hardware resources or other application software that is
installed in your computer. You will have to contact your system
manufacturer to deal with those issues.

I will help you resolve the low resource issue caused due to the
    all-in-one software in this e-mail.

The computer will slow down or freeze when it is low on system
resources. I recommend you follow the steps given in the Web site below
to improve the system resources and hence optimize the computer. This
should increase the system resources by a considerable amount.

I hope this is of some help.

    peace

try going to 'tools>internet options>advanced' and click reset defaults. it sounds silly but it worked on some dells i was having a similer problem with. you might want to try reinstalling IE.

    Thanks for helping a dummy

Thank you for the suggestions. After days of trying everything I could think of, the only fix was reinstalling explorer. It was definetly a strange problem.
